Rock a Bye Baby

Rock a Bye Baby is one of the best known lullabies in the US.  American babies have heard this song for at least 150 years.  Some say it was written after an American settler saw a native american mother carefully putting her baby in a sling under a branch so that the wind would gently rock the child to sleep.

Here's a video about how to sing the melody and the first verse.

Rock a Baby Lyrics

Rock a bye baby, in the tree top
When the wind blows, the cradle will rock
When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall
And down will come baby, cradle and all
